CBI Arrests Superintendent of Central Excise and an Inspector of South Central Railway in Separate Bribery Cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent (Audit) of Central Excise, Indore for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act 1988 against Supdt. (Audit), Central Excise, Indore for demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000/- for showing official favour in the matter of accepting the report of Survey Department of Central Excise to clear the service tax of his company. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/ from the complainant.

In another separate case, the CBI arrested an Inspector of works, BZA, South Central Railway, Vijayawada for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000/- from the complainant.

The complainant alleged that he was the partner of the Constructions firm engaged in civil construction works of South Central Railway and was awarded the contract for the work of Vijayawada Cat Walk on both sides of Pit Lines on LU 5,6 & 7 (2506 MTS) for a total amount of Rs. 3,08,94,705/-. The Inspector of works BZA, South Central Railway, Vijayawada allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 40,000/- i.e. 2% of the 4th running bill amounting to Rs. 21/- lakh (approx) from the complainant.

CBI registered a case and laid a trap. The Inspector of Works, BZA, South Central Railway, Vijayawada was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000/- from the complainant.

The arrested accused is being produced before the Special Judge for CBI cases, Visakhapatnam.
