CBI ARRESTS A SUPERINTENDENT AND AN INSPECTOR OF SERVICE TAX DEPARTMENT FOR ACCEPTING A BRIBE OF RS. ONE LAKH
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Superintendent and an Inspector of Service Tax, Department of Revenue (Ministry of Finance), CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.One Lakh from the Complainant.
The Complainant had alleged in his complaint that the Superintendent and the Inspector of Service Tax Department were demanding an illegal gratification of Rs. One Lakh for favourable settlement of his service tax liabilities.
Acting on a complaint, the agency laid a trap and nabbed Service Tax inspector Anuj Kumar and superintendent LN Meena red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe from the complainant, CBI spokesperson said here today.
Searches have been carried out at the official and residential premises of accused persons. Incriminating documents recovered during searches, are being scrutinized.
Both the accused were produced today before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts at Delhi and were remanded to two days police custody.
