CBI ARRESTS AN ASSISTANT PROVIDENT FUND COMMISSIONER, ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AND A SUPDT. OF CENTRAL EXCISE IN SEPARATE BRIBERY CASES
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner & an Enforcement Officer working in Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Kandivali (W), Mumbai, for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the complainant. It was alleged in the complaint that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs.20,000/-for getting the closure report of a case of private firm pending before them. CBI laid a trap and both the accused were caught red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000/- as part payment of total bribe as earlier demanded.
In another case, the CBI arrested a Supdt. of Service Tax, Central Excise, Akurdi, Pune for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.1000/- from the complainant.
The complainant had approached CBI with the complaint that the accused was demanding a bribe for getting the hard copy of the Form ST-II duly signed & sealed by her.
A case was registered against her U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed and arrested while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.1000/- from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at her official & residential premises which resulted in the recovery of incriminating documents and other documents relating to assets and investments.
