CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST AN OFFICIAL OF ITARSI RAILWAY STATION AND OTHERS FOR ALLEGEDLY DEPOSITING OLD NOTES OF RS.61 LAKH (APPROX)
The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a Booking Clerk, Itarsi Railway Station; Itarsi District Hoshingabad (Madhya Pradesh) based private firm and other unknown persons on the allegations that after issuance of notification by Government of India dated 8.11.2016 whereby old currency notes of Rs.1000/ and Rs.500/- were declared illegal tenders w.e.f 09.11.2016, the Itarsi based private firm(dealing in Food Services) entered into a conspiracy with the booking clerk of Itarsi Railway Station & other unknown persons and deposited old currency notes in cash amounting to more than Rs.61 lakh(approx) on 09.11.2016 as Advance Yearly Licence Fee in Railway Account for their units at Itarsi & Bina Railway stations. The accused cheated the Government by accepting the licence fee in cash in the form of demonetized currency notes in violation of Government notification.
Searches were conducted at four places, including the residential & office premises of Railway Booking Clerk and Proprietor of said private firm at Itarsi District(MP) which led to recovery of several incriminating documents.
