CBI ARRESTS AN INCOME TAX OFFICER FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS. 75,000/-
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Income Tax Officer Preeta Babukuttan posted at Range 31(1)(2), Mumbai for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 75,000/- from the Complainant.
It was alleged in the complaint that the accused had demanded a bribe from the Complainant for according a favour in reducing his assessment of Income Tax from Rs. 4 lakhs to Rs.0.55 lakh. CBI registered a case under sections 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act and laid a trap. The accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 75,000/- from the Complainant. Searches have been conducted at the residential premises of the accused in Navi Mumbai.
The arrested accused is being produced in the Designated Court at Mumbai.
