FOUR YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF RS. 1.50 LAKH TO THEN INSPECTOR OF INCOME TAX IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi has convicted Sh. Jai Prakash, then Inspector, Income Tax Department, Delhi and sentenced him to undergo four years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs. 1.50 lakh.

CBI had registered a case on 20.03.2015 against Sh. Jai Prakash, Inspector, Income Tax Department, Ward No. 56(3), Delhi under section 7 of PC Act, 1988. It was alleged that Jai Prakash, Inspector while processing the income tax assessment of the complainant for the year 2012-13 demanded a bribe of Rs. 2.50 lakh for clearing the Income-Tax assessment. CBI laid a trap and caught accused Jai Prakash red-handed, while accepting the negotiated bribe of Rs. 90,000/- from the complainant. A charge sheet was filed on 17.09.2015 under Section 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) of Pc Act, 1988 in the Court of Special Judge, CBI cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.

The Trial court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
