The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a Commissioner of Income Tax for accumulating huge assets worth crores of rupees in his name as well as in the name of his family members, which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Searches have been conducted at various places in four states including cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad and Jodhpur with a view to unearth the disproportionate assets acquired by the accused and his family members. During searches documents relating five flats & one shop in Mumbai; house in Bikaner; plot in Jodhpur; several bank accounts; heavy investments in shares/ financial instruments etc. have been found. Incriminating documents recovered during searches are being scrutinized for further investigation.
