THE CBI has registered a case against a Commissioner of Income Tax, New Delhi, for accumulating huge assets worth crores of rupees in his name as well as in the name of his family members, which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Searches have been conducted at various places in Delhi, Kanpur and Bangalore with a view to unearth the disproportionate assets acquired by the suspect officer and his family members.

During searches a large number of incriminating documents including details of several bank accounts, many plots, flats, commercial properties in Delhi, Kanpur and Bangalore; heavy deposits, balances, cash, investment in shares/financial instruments, vehicles, jewellery and foreign travels etc. have been recovered.

Sources revealed that the sleuths have seized huge cash of Rs 66 lakh, recovered documents of plots in Kausambhi, Vasant Kunj & Kanpur, flats in Gurgaon, Bangalore and commercial shops in Bangalore, seven lockers, nine credit cards, several Dmat accounts showing huge transactions of shares.

Investigation is in progress.

    who says a government servant cannot be wealthy?the claims havent been verified and the cbi clearly revealed all his wealth is through shares which is legal and also the properties are in the name of his family which doesnt indicate anything wrong.its time our media learns to behave like responsible citizens and not harrass the ones in trouble.
