Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs held a meeting with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)   delegation, led by VP Shri Aniket Sunil Talati. The MoF had invited the ICAI on Saturday to discuss various issues, including ongoing investigations by CGST Gurugram into alleged role of their members in fraudulent GST refunds

The representatives of ICAI were informed of the suspension of a Deputy Commissioner of GST on Sunday and a superintendent on Saturday itself. Smt Nirmala Sitharaman was appreciative of the steps taken by ICAI on engagement with stakeholders.

The ICAI representatives informed Smt Nirmala Sitharaman that they’ll continue to use recently-enacted ‘CA, CWA and CS Act’ for the inculcation of professional discipline & integrity among its members. CBIC Chairman Shri Vivek Johri was also present during the meeting.

ICAI thanks Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Ms. @nsitharaman ji for inviting ICAI to discuss matters related to profession. The ICAI delegation, led by Vice President-ICAI @AniketTalati alongwith CCMs @rajendrakumarRK, @CAkemishaSoni , CA. Prasanna Kumar D. & @FCAUmeshSharma discussed the current matter at CGST Gurugram, actions taken alongwith the future roadmap. Discussions were also held regd. creating awareness & propagation of Govt. policies amongst public at large & to further strengthen the involvement of ICAI with #FinMinIndia #MCA21

ICAI also extended a warm invitation to Hon’ble Minister for the 21st World Congress of Accountants to be held in Mumbai from 18th to 21st November 2022.
