The panel discussion here tomorrow is a landmark attempt by the Comptroller General of India to view the audit and results of audit through the perception of the stakeholders in specific and in general. The panel discussion will provide a forum for insight into what the stakeholders i.e., government, political leaders, media and other financial sector experts as well as public, expect from the audit against what they are actually getting. This may cover the entire gamut of approach to the subject, audit technologies, stakeholders’ contribution, the quality of communication, timeliness and utility of audit reports from their perception rather than being critical only and overall value addition to governance.

Since the panel represents eminent persons from various fields like politics, private sector and media, the panel will some sort of do critical assessments to assist introspection and reforms that may be required for rendering audit more contemporarious, useful and with enhanced partnership for securing good governance. This panel discussion, which will be attended by the accountants general from all over the country, is a giant step forward making the audit work more transparent and purposeful.

The panelists are Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Express Group, and Shri T.N. Ninan, Chairman and MD, Business Standard both from the media, Shri Deepak Parikh, Chairman of HDFC from the financial sector and Shri Mohandas Pai, Director and Head Infosys from the private sector.
