Mumbai, October 14, 2026: Tata Power, a leading integrated power company in India, is strategically advancing its position within the rapidly growing data centre ecosystem. The company has announced a substantial opportunity pipeline exceeding 2.8 GW, encompassing renewable energy, transmission, and distribution initiatives aimed at supporting the burgeoning demand from AI, cloud, and digital platforms.

The company is not only focusing on power supply but is also offering a comprehensive suite of solutions. These include powered land, transmission and grid connectivity, renewable energy, storage, cooling, and utility infrastructure. Such offerings are crucial for the development of hyperscalers and advanced data centre facilities. Tata Power has established a robust pipeline, featuring approximately 430 MW of upcoming load under its distribution network, 1,236 MW of transmission-linked opportunities, and 1,150 MW of green energy capacity under active engagement. The company is actively engaged across 29 workstreams with 18 leading global and domestic data centre operators.

Tata Power’s integrated presence across the power value chain positions it uniquely to contribute to the evolving AI and data centre ecosystem. This comprehensive approach enables the company to support the development of next-generation data centre facilities, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted power supply for large-scale digital infrastructure projects. In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Tata Power is enhancing its transmission infrastructure, upgrading its 110 kV and 220 kV network, and developing a 400 kV transmission ring network. This is part of Tata Power’s ₹15,000 crore Mumbai Grid Upgradation and Expansion Plan, aimed at creating a resilient and future-ready grid.

As India strengthens its position as a global AI and digital infrastructure hub, energy availability becomes a critical enabler. The Ministry of Power projects that AI-led data centres could add approximately 26.3 GW of electricity demand by FY2031-32. With the International Energy Agency highlighting the role of emerging economies like India in driving data centre and electricity demand, Tata Power is well-positioned to deliver the integrated energy infrastructure necessary to support the country’s digital future.
