Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has formally inaugurated its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune, Maharashtra, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s expansion in India. The inauguration was officiated by Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, alongside key dignitaries including Lee Seong-ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, and senior officials from Hyundai Motor Group (HMG).

The Pune plant is one of Hyundai’s most advanced manufacturing facilities globally, integrating Industry 4.0 technologies and AI-enabled production systems. It currently boasts an annual installed capacity of 170,000 units, with plans to expand to 320,000 units by 2030. The facility will manufacture the all-new Hyundai VENUE exclusively for export to over 35 countries, underscoring HMIL’s commitment to making India a global automotive manufacturing and export hub.

Hyundai’s investment of up to INR 11,000 crore in the Pune plant is a testament to its long-term vision for India, focusing on innovation, localization, and skill development. The plant’s advanced digital factory ecosystem includes AI-driven analytics, predictive maintenance systems, and immersive AR-based training, reflecting Hyundai’s dedication to future-ready production lines capable of supporting multiple ICE and hybrid models.

The inauguration coincides with Hyundai’s celebration of 30 years in India, during which it has achieved cumulative exports of 4 million passenger vehicles and nearly 10 million domestic sales. The company’s significant contribution to India’s automotive sector is further highlighted by its robust supplier ecosystem, which has generated over 18,000 employment opportunities in Maharashtra. Tier-I suppliers have invested nearly INR 4,600 crore in the state, strengthening regional manufacturing capabilities and supply chain resilience.

Analysts view Hyundai’s continued investment in India as a strategic move to enhance its competitive edge in the global market. By leveraging advanced manufacturing technologies and fostering local partnerships, HMIL is well-positioned to contribute to India’s economic growth and transition towards sustainable mobility. The Pune plant’s inauguration not only marks a new chapter in Hyundai’s journey but also reinforces India’s growing stature as a key player in the global automotive industry.
