Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has announced its financial results for the second quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026, showcasing remarkable growth in profitability and operational performance. The company reported a record net profit of ₹6,412 crore for the second quarter, marking a significant 142% increase year-on-year. This was accompanied by an impressive 77% rise in revenue from operations, which reached ₹15,093 crore, driven by higher metal prices, increased production, and favourable by-product realisations.

The company also achieved its highest-ever quarterly EBITDA of ₹9,285 crore, reflecting a 108% year-on-year increase. The EBITDA margin stood at an industry-leading 62%, up approximately 900 basis points from the previous year. Hindustan Zinc’s robust financial performance was underpinned by record production levels, with mined metal production reaching 271 KT and refined metal production at 264 KT, both up by 5% and 7% year-on-year, respectively. Additionally, silver production rose by 20% to 173 tonnes, contributing significantly to the company’s profitability.

For the half-year period, Hindustan Zinc reported a net profit of ₹11,881 crore, a 143% increase compared to the previous year, with revenue from operations totalling ₹28,840 crore, up 77% year-on-year. The company maintained a strong free cash flow of ₹11,642 crore before growth capital expenditure and contributed ₹13,027 crore to the national exchequer, including ₹3,724 crore to the Rajasthan exchequer through taxes and royalties.

Hindustan Zinc continues to focus on sustainability, with renewable power consumption rising to 27% of total power usage. The company has also introduced electric vehicles in its operations, furthering its commitment to reducing carbon emissions. CEO Amarendu Prakash emphasised the company’s focus on disciplined growth and innovation to support India’s energy transition, while CFO Amit Gupta highlighted the company’s financial discipline and resilience.

Analysts note that Hindustan Zinc’s strategic focus on cost efficiency and sustainability initiatives, coupled with strong market demand, positions it favourably in the metals and mining sector. The company’s consistent performance and strategic investments are expected to drive long-term value for shareholders amidst a dynamic global economic environment.
