The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Air Cargo Complex, Andheri, Mumbai for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.2000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered against an Assistant Commissioner of Customs and an Appraiser, Air Cargo Complex, U/s 120-B of IPC and Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on the allegations of demanding bribe from the complainant for assessment of bills of entry and final assessment of the consignment. CBI laid a trap and caught the Assistant Commissioner while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.2000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the residential premises and other places of both the accused.
The accused will be produced today before the Special Judge, Mumbai.
