Hyderabad – The Shamshabad airport police here have registered a case of extortion against two inspectors of the Customs department after a woman passenger accused them of demanding bribe from her, police said today. The woman, who landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Shamshabad) from Dubai yesterday, lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the two inspectors, identified as Vinod Kumar and Ali Khan, of the Customs demanded Rs 7,000 from her as ‘fine’ to allow her to take a gold ornament of 50 gm that she was carrying in her bag.

“The two inspectors reportedly agreed for Rs 3000, however, when the woman insisted on a receipt for the ‘fine’ the duo allegedly behaved with her in a rude manner after which she complained to police,” an investigating officer said today.

Following the complaint, Shamshabad Airport police registered a case under section 384 (Extortion) of IPC against the inspectors.
