Shri Anil Baijal
Hon’ble Lt. Governor
Government of NCT of Delhi
Delhi

Dear Shri Anil Baijal ji,

Sub : Extension of Lockdown in Delhi

Being concerned with the continued rapid increase of covid cases in Delhi and proportionally non- availability of required medical facilities has worsened the situation and we understand that it may take time to restore normalcy in Delhi with  the efforts of your Government. Keeping this fact into consideration, a meeting of prominent trade associations was held at Delhi yesterday through a video conference where it has been unanimously resolved to request you for extension of lock down in Delhi beyond 3rd May and the. same be extended upto 15th May,2021. The present situation in Delhi caused by covid pandemic is highly chaotic, horrible and grim and therefore calling for more strict measures. along with lock down in order to break the chain of covid.

Despite various steps taken by your Government in  the past two weeks, it is  an admitted fact that Delhi is highly suffering with shortage of medical oxygen, capacity of Hospitals for providing beds is over and there are no beds in Hospitals, acute shortage of medicines, injections, shortage of oxygen, shortage of oxygen cylinders, non-availability of oxygen concentrators, the covid affected people are quite helpless.  The people  are running  from pillar to post begging for medical assistance.

We also bring to your notice that per day covid testings in Delhi have come down, questions are being raised about RT PCR Kits. covid, testing is .taking 3/4 days time and simultaneously the testing Reports are also taking time from 4 to 5 days which has worried the people of Delhi. We request you to kindly take necessary action to streamline the system. We also take liberty to mention that vaccination charges for people above the Age of 18 years is too high and the common people will find it difficult to go for vaccination. These prices need to be lowered upto an affordable price. It is also suggested that gas cylinders used for cooking are lying idle in homes. If with a little modification, these gas cylinders are used for oxygen gas, it will reduce the pressure of demand in oxygen.

It has been reported that several scrupulous persons are indulged in a sinister game of black marketing of injections and other medical equipment and other items. We strongly condemn such people and request you to det up a fast back Court and such persons should be given exemplary punishment by fast track courts within 30 days.

Though we are fully aware that any lock down will cause great financial loss to traders and economy of the State, yet we are of the considered opinion that in order to save lives of the people of Delhi and protecting them from any further spread of covid, it is more important to prevent people of Delhi from physical meet and therefore, we request you to please extend the current lockdovm in larger interest of people of Delhi. ” Nation First-Delhi first” is our motto for which we are truly wedded.

However, we also request that beside lock down, all entry points of Delhi must be put to strong covid checking methods and accordingly strict checking measures needs to be deployed at Airport, Railway station, Inter State Bus Stands and all borders of Delhi to ensure that no covid infected people can enter Delhi or he should be put to compulsory quarantine for 15 days.

However, we once again reiterate commitment of traders of Delhi to extend all possible help to Delhi Government in its bid to fight against deadly covid and such would request you to kindly nominate Nodal officers with whom the trade associations can lend their support as per the guidelines of the Government.

A small delegation of the senior trade leaders of Delhi wish to call upon your goodself to discuss in person the areas of support and assistance of the business community of Delhi. We are sure that it will receive your kind attention and you will be pleased to accord an earliest convenient appointment.

Thank you.

With regards
Yours truly
