Impact of Demonetization of Currency Notes on Toll Collection

Post demonetization of currency notes of 500/- and 1000/-, Government has suspended the user fee collection on National Highways w.e.f. 09th November, 2016 (17:30 hrs.) to 2ndDecember,2016 (midnight).

The average toll collection per day is Rs. 51.59 crores from the fee plazas under NHAI, which is not accruing to the Government w.e.f. 09th November, 2016 (17:30 hrs.).

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued necessary instructions to all concessionaries including BOT, OMT operators and commuters have been allowed to travel through the user fee plazas without paying any fee from 09th November, 2016 (17:30 hrs.) to 2ndDecember,2016 (midnight).

This information was given by the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
