The Government has said that as per information given by the Department of Public Enterprises it has so far not issued any guidelines regarding the assessment of working of non-official Directors on the Board of Central Public Sector Enterprises. This information was given by the Minister for Corporate Affairs, Shri Salman Khurshid in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. He also informed the House that there is no discrimination on the basis of gender in the appointment of Directors under the Companies Act, 1956. However, no statistics is being maintained by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on the representation of women in the Board of Directors.
