The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) Council has approved the opening of a new Examination Centre at Haldwani, Uttarakhand, effective from the December 2025 term. This move provides relief to thousands of students who previously faced long-distance travel to Dehradun, Haridwar, or Delhi to take their professional examinations. The decision followed the persistent efforts of Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) members of Uttarakhand origin: CMA Jeewan Chandra, CMA Santosh Pant, and CMA Manish Kandpal. They view the new centre as a development that will support the growth of the Cost and Management Accounting (CMA) profession in the region. Other NIRC office bearers, including Chairman CMA Rakesh Yadav, also welcomed the establishment, noting it will improve accessibility, enhance awareness, and potentially increase enrollment for the CMA course in Uttarakhand and the wider northern area. The CMA course, established by an Act of Parliament, offers education in finance, management, and cost accounting, preparing individuals for senior roles in both corporate and public sector organizations.
