Sub :Practising Company Secretaries are recognised for appearance before the Delhi Value Added Tax (DVAT) Authorities
We are pleased to inform you that the Government of Delhi has notified Delhi Value Added Tax (Second Amendment) Act, 2012 vide Notification No. F.14 (6)/LA-2012/cons2law/61 dated 15th June 2012 amending Section 82(1)(b)to include the Practising Company Secretaries to appear before the Delhi VAT authorities. By this amendment, Company Secretaries may directly attend before any authority in connection with any proceedings under Delhi Value Added Tax Act.
This recognition has been made subsequent to our representation made before the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Delhi.

Dear Mr Jain,
A great job done by ICSI. Will we see in coming months similar recognition from big states like U.P. Maharastra, MP, Tamilnadu, Andrra etc.
ICSI should represent one single ministry that if Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, which has always neglected CS profession be it in Income tax act or FEMA. While in Income Tax all the certifcation has been given to CAs and in Banking a limited recongnition has been given to PCS that also under the shadow of CAs. They have reserved every certifcation for CAs be it internal audit or compliance related certifcation. hardly a CS even though practically more cometelent than any other professional yet notrecognised. Once this area is tackled. PCS will have enough work.
