BSP Maharashtra Secretary is currently in the ICU with multiple wounds on his face, head and legs
On Saturday, the Maharashtra Secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), who is also a builder involved in the development of a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project in Bhandup, was brutally attacked by his chartered accountant in his house.
Shailesh Kamitkar, 35, a chartered accountant who helps the victim Ashok Chandrapal Singh, 45, with his finances, attacked the builder with a chopper. Singh is currently admitted in Bhandup’s SS Hospital’s intensive care unit with multiple wounds on his head, face and legs.
According to police officials, Kamitkar, who lives in Bhandup’s Tulshetpada, immediately attacked Singh upon reaching his house at 8.30 am. In the scuffle that ensued, Singh was able to make enough noise for his son Chandan and the neighbours to hear. Chandan and the neighbours then stopped Kamitkar from fleeing and handed him over to the police.
Police sources claim that Kamitkar, who had booked a flat in an SRA project that Singh was developing in Bhandup’s Bhattipada area, was demanding a refund of his investment. Singh, who in 2009 unsuccessfully stood for parliamentary elections against Nationalist Congress Party member Sanjay Patil, had reportedly rejected his demands.
A police officer requesting anonymity, added that Kamitkar has been arrested under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder). According to Dinesh Singh, a family friend of Singh, “Kamitkar came with two other men on two motorbikes. The other two halted near the building, while Kamitkar came to the house.” He added that the other two fled the spot when Kamitkar was apprehended.
