The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), in its Council meeting held on 17–18 March 2026, approved several key reforms to enhance accessibility, governance, and professional development. Eligibility criteria for registration to the Executive Programme were expanded to include CSEET-qualified candidates, graduates, CA Inter and CMA Final pass students, and even final-year undergraduate and integrated programme students on a provisional basis. Revised timelines for CSEET registration, exam enrolment, and result declaration were approved, effective from October 2026. To promote inclusivity, a 50% fee concession for economically backward students was introduced. The Council also approved initiatives such as the first Global Governance Conclave, establishment of an International Network of Governance Professionals (INGP), and launch of a specialized MBA in Maritime Regulations. Additionally, MoUs with global institutions were renewed, and a new award category for debt-listed entities was introduced to strengthen corporate governance recognition.

Important Decisions taken in the Meeting of the Council dated 17-18 March 2026
1. The Council accorded its approval for revision in the eligibility criteria, for registration/ provisional registration to Executive Programme, pursuant to Regulation 20(1) (ii) of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982, as under:
a. CSEET qualified candidates
b. CS Foundation pass students
c. Graduates and Post-Graduates
d. CA Intermediate Pass students
e. CMA Final Pass students
f. Students appearing in the final year or final semester of undergraduate programmes (03 years)- [Provisional Registration]
g. Students who have passed the 6th semester of any recognized integrated programme (05 years’ duration)
h. Students who are appearing in the 6th semester of any recognized integrated programme (05 years’ duration) [Provisional Registration].
2. The Council accorded its approval for revision in the timelines for CSEET Registration, Exam Enrolment and Result Declaration as mentioned hereunder, to be applicable from October 2026 session onwards:

3. The Council accorded its approval for granting 50% Fee Concession to Economically Backward Students (EBS) for registration to Executive Programme.
4. The Council accorded it approval for organising the First Global Governance Conclave.
5. The Council approved the proposal for setting up of the International Network of Governance Professionals (INGP).
6. The Council accorded its approval to conduct “GMU-ICSI MBA in Maritime Regulations and Compliance Management” course on residential / non-residential basis from the Academic Year 2026 onwards.
7. The Council approved the proposal for initiation of MoUs by Regional and Chapter Offices with industry associations, chambers and similar bodies.
8. The Council accorded its approval for renewal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the following:
A. Chartered Governance Institute (CGI)
B. Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).
9. The Council accorded its approval for introduction for a separate category of award for “Debt Listed” Entity, in the ICSI National Awards for Excellence in Corporate Governance, 2026.
