The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, issued Notification No. 37/2025-26 on October 3, 2025, to implement an immediate amendment to the export policy for De-Oiled Rice Bran (DoRB). The Central Government has revised the export status of DoRB under specific ITC (HS) codes in Chapter 23 of the Export Policy Schedule. Previously, the export of DoRB was explicitly ‘Prohibited’ with a restriction that was scheduled to be in place until September 30, 2025. This notification removes that restriction entirely. Consequently, the export policy for DoRB across all relevant codes—including those concerning bran, sharps, and oil-cake residues—is now uniformly classified as ‘Free’. This action, taken using the powers under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, effectively lifts the ban on exporting De-Oiled Rice Bran, allowing its trade to proceed without the former prohibition.
