The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, issued Notification No. 14/2025-26 dated May 26, 2025, amending the import policy conditions for cabinet hinges listed under Chapter 83 of the ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule I. According to the revised policy, the import of cabinet hinges falling under HS Codes 83021010, 83021090, 83024200, and 83024900 remains generally “Free”; however, a restriction is imposed on cabinet hinges with a CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value of less than ₹280 per kilogram. Such imports are now classified as “Restricted” under the new policy condition. This update has been made under the powers conferred by Sections 3 and 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, and aligns with the applicable provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023. The objective of the amendment appears to be regulation of low-cost imports in this product category. The notification was issued with the approval of the Minister of Commerce and Industry and is signed by Ajay Bhadoo, Director General of Foreign Trade and Additional Secretary.

S.O. 2349(E).––In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby amends the Policy Condition of items covered under specific HS codes of Chapter 83 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule – I (Import Policy), as under:
