Notification No. 38 (RE-99), issued on 6th December 1999, amends the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items under the Export and Import Policy 1997-2002. New entries are added to the Exim code for alcoholic preparations used in beverages. Specifically, compound alcoholic preparations under Exim Code 220810 00, including “Angostura Aromatic Bitters” (Exim Code 220810 10), are classified as “free” for import, while other preparations (Exim Code 220810 90) are classified as “restricted.” These changes aim to regulate the import of these products under specific conditions, ensuring proper classification in the export-import system.

S.O (E) – In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items , 1997-2002 published on 31st March, 1997 (RE-98) as amended from time to time, namely –
