Notification No. 7 (RE-2001), dated March 31, 2001, amends the ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items for the 1997-2002 period. The notification restricts the import of items previously allowed against the surrender of SIL (Special Import License), which were not included in Notification No. 2(RE-2001). However, it clarifies that imports of gold and silver by nominated and authorized agencies, approved by the RBI or Ministry of Finance, will continue without restriction. Additionally, the notification adds two new entries to Appendix V of the ITC(HS) classification, specifying BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) standards for packaged water products: IS13428:1998 for packaged natural mineral water and IS14543:1998 for packaged drinking water. These amendments aim to refine the import regulations for certain goods and ensure compliance with updated standards.
