Medicinal and Toilet Preparartions – Ad valorem duty increased to 12% from 10%

Notification No. 1/2012-M & TP

New Delhi, the 17th March, 2012

G.S.R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 8 of the Medicinal and Toilet Preparartions (Excise Duties) Rules, 1956, the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 2/2003-M&TP , dated the 1st March, 2003, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide number G.S.R. 159 (E), dated the 1st March, 2003, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Table, in column (4), for the entry “Ten per cent. ad valorem”, wherever it occurs, the entry “Twelve per cent. ad valorem” shall be substituted.

Note.- The principal notification was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, vide number G.S.R.159(E), dated the 1st March, 2003, and last amended by notification No. 1/2010- M&TP, dated the 27th February, 2010, published vide number G.S.R. 162 (E), dated the 27th February, 2010.
