The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered a major corruption network involving officials of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur, including an Advocate, a Judicial Member, and an Assistant Registrar, along with other public servants and private individuals. The network allegedly facilitated the settlement of pending ITAT appeals in favor of appellants in exchange for bribes. The CBI registered the case on 25.11.2025, and during operations, arrested the Advocate with Rs. 5.5 lakh obtained through a hawala transaction. The Judicial Member was arrested the following day with Rs. 30 lakh recovered from her official car, while the appellant was also taken into custody. Extensive raids in Jaipur, Kota, and other locations uncovered over Rs. 1 crore in cash, along with property records, transaction details, and other documents evidencing a structured corrupt syndicate. Investigations and searches remain ongoing, highlighting systemic corruption risks within quasi-judicial institutions and the effectiveness of CBI operations in uncovering organized bribery networks.

CBI Arrests Advocate and Judicial Member of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Jaipur for indulging in Corrupt Activities

In a significant development based on source information, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has busted a criminal network involving an Advocate, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur, one Judicial Member, ITAT, Jaipur, an Assistant Registrar, ITAT, Jaipur and other unknown public servants & private persons for indulging in corrupt activities for settling appeals pending in ITAT bench, Jaipur in favour of concerned appellants in lieu of bribe.

The CBI registered the instant case on 25.11.2025 against the accused Advocate ITAT and others including Member and Assistant Registrar, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur.

CBI Arrests ITAT Jaipur Member and Advocate for Corruption

During the operation, Advocate, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur, was arrested on 25.11.2025 with bribe amount of Rs. 5.5. lakhs paid by the appellant through hawala network. Subsequently, Judicial Member, ITAT, Jaipur, was arrested on 26.11.2025 along with the recovery of Rs. 30 lakhs from her official car and the appellant was also arrested on 26.11.2025.

Further, a number of places were raided by multiple CBI teams at Jaipur, Kota and other places and seized cash amounting to more than Rs.1 Crore, transaction details, property documents and other incriminating documents indicating an organized syndicate.

The search operation and follow up action is still in progress.
