Leading credit information company, CIBIL, on Wednesday launched Credit Information Reports for companies to help them access the system data before they go for raising a loan or other financial dealings. Till now, Credit Information Bureau India (CIBIL) shared data regarding a company’s financial history (loans drawn earlier, repayment history, etc) with banks which helped latter assessing the risk associated with a company before lending.

Post offices to offer core banking solution by next year

In a major exercise to boost its profitability, the Department of Posts (DoP) plans to introduce core banking solution besides setting up India Post ATMs and debit cards for its customers. We have set target of bringing in core banking solution by 2012. It will ensure smooth online transactions. We are giving some e-payment services, but they are fragmented, a top offical from Department of Post said.

A Committee to Review Implementation of Informal Sector Pension was constituted under the Chairmanship of Shri G N Bajpai former Chairman, SEBI, LIC and also member of PFRDA NPS Trust. The Committee has submitted its report on 1st July, 2011. The report is accessible on http://pfrda.org.in/indexmain.asp?linkid=180. Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority( PFRDA) is inviting public comments and stakeholder’s views, before finalizing policy initiatives that require action as per recommendations of the Committee.

To strengthen the capacity of gram panchayats and municipalities in Kerala, an IDA credit of US$200 million was signed between the Government of India and the World Bank in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday. The Kerala Local Government and Service Delivery Project will fund improvements in local infrastructure to help Kerala usher in second-generation reforms towards greater decentralization at the local level.

The Union Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee has said that the direct transfer of subsidies on LPG, Fertiliser and Kerosene will help in curbing pilferage and leakages. He was speaking on the occasion of submission of the Interim Report of the Task Force on Direct Transfer of Subsidies by the Chairman of the Task Force and Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Shri Nandan Nilekani, here today. The interim report recommends an implementable solution, in a phased manner, for direct transfer of subsidies on LPG, Fertiliser and Kerosene.

As you are aware, there was an all-party meeting yesterday. It started at half-past four, went on till nearly quarter to eight. Apart from the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister – the Finance Minister is also chairman of the joint drafting committee – there were 31 speakers representing the political parties. Both Leaders of Opposition, Ms. Sushma Swaraj and Mr. Arun Jaitley, intervened. We are very happy with the outcome of the meeting. The meeting adopted unanimously a one-sentence resolution which read that the government would bring a bill in Parliament in accordance with established procedure.

No decision on lowering GDP projection yet – FM

The outstanding balances of 11.50 % Loan, 2011 is repayable at par on August 5, 2011 and no interest will accrue there on from the said date. In the event of a holiday being declared on August 5, 2011 by any State Government under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, the Loan will be repaid by the paying offices in that State on the previous working day.

Mutual funds may soon face some tough questions from market regulator Sebi regarding the exercise of their vote on key business proposals of the companies in whose shares they have put in investors’ money. The market watchdog is irked by the casual approach adopted by most of the funds when it comes to voting on proposals put forth by the company management for shareholder approval, as also the disclosure of these votes, a senior official told PTI.

Major PSU banks may raise lending rates soon

Major public sector banks, including State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Bank of Baroda, are likely to soon raise lending rates making home, auto and commercial loans expensive. As many as a dozen banks, including private sector leader ICICI Bank have already hiked their lending rate by 25 basis points in response to the tightening of monetary policy by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) last month.
