The Union Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee said that we would continue to achieve appreciable growth despite negative sentiments across the world. He mentioned about these sentiments in the developed nations which affected our markets on last Friday. But the Finance Minister Shri Mukherjee said that we witnessed some recovery already and this is testimony to our capacity for resilience. Shri Mukherjee said that our growth story is intact and the fundamentals are strong. He said that he is sure that our markets have the capacity to withstand the negative sentiments affecting the external world. The Finance Minister Shri Mukherjee said that we have taken several measures to make our markets attractive, robust and vibrant and would continue to do so making it an attractive investment destination for the foreign capital. The Finance Minister said that as global investors look for opportunities across the world, India’s attraction as an investment destination would continue to grow.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered two cases relating to alleged irregularities in the funds allotted to the National Rural Health Mission on the directions of Honorable High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Lucknow Bench passed in a Writ Petition. Accordingly CBI has registered two regular cases U/s 120-B r/w 409, 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471 IPC and 13 (2) r/w 13 (c), 13 (1) (d) of PC Act 1988.

Govt to end gas Subsidy for people with annual income of Rs 6 lakh

The government should end subsidised domestic cooking gas (LPG) for people with income of more than Rs 6 lakh per annum, a Parliamentary Panel has suggested. A 14.2-kg LPG cylinder in Delhi currently costs Rs 395.35. This is Rs 247 short of its market price. If the panel recommendation is accepted, people with more than Rs 6 lakh per annum household income will have to pay Rs 642.35 per bottle.

57100 cases pending in SC; 42 lakh in HCs- Law Minister. As per latest available information, 57,179 cases were pending in the Supreme Court of India as on 30.6.11. The number of cases pending in the High Courts were 42,17,903 as on 30.9.2010. Giving his information in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice informed the House that in order to facilitate expeditious disposal of cases in courts, Government has taken a number of measures as mentioned below:

It is alleged that the accused while working as Chief PostMaster General, Maharashtra and Goa, Mumbai had accumulated disproportionate assets by mis-using his official position which was disproportionate to his known sources of income. He is found in possession of number of flats / plots at Bhopal, Gwalior and Faridabad. He is holding a number of accounts at various banks and post offices in his name and in the name of his family members having heavy credit balance.
