The union government was asked today by the Delhi High Court to explain its stand on a plea challenging a statutory regulation limiting the number of short messages ( SMs) sent through a SIM a day to a maximum of 200. A bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw issued notices to the Ministry of Telecommunication and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) seeking their replies to the plea seeking the quashing of the curbs on sending more than 200 SMSs per SIM in a day.

The new savings regime offer better returns than ever and compared to other investments, offer adequate post tax return and maximum security to the principal amount invested. So if one is willing to invest in fixed income instruments, better to choose one from Government’s saving plans .

In pursuance of the recommendations of the Committee on Public Procurement headed by Shri Vinod Dhall and the decisions thereon of the Group of Ministers constituted to consider measures to tackle corruption and ensure transparency, the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has on 30th November 2011, issued instructions for setting up a Central Public Procurement Portal and making it mandatory for all Ministries/ Departments of the Central Government, Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and autonomous and statutory bodies to publish all their tender enquiries on this portal.
