The first ever India Corporate Week was held last December and graced by the President of India involving 124programmes on the theme of Corporate Sector and Inclusive Growth. During this week, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs had released Voluntary Guidelines on Corporate Governance and Voluntary Guidelines on Corporate Social Responsibility which attracted widespread interest.  This initiative of organizing India Corporate Week is now an annual event to bring together the Corporate sector, professionals and other stakeholders along with the Government on a single platform to deliberate on specific issues.

With the above background, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs   adopted the motto of ‘Corporate Sector and Inclusive Growth’ and ‘Corporate Growth with Enlightened Regulation’.  These mottos are the fountain head of the many activities launched by the Ministry.

Keeping in view the increased importance of sustainability issues in the growth of business and in the nation’s economy, the theme of India Corporate Week 2010 (ICW 2010), which will be held during December 14-21, has been chosen as ‘Sustainable Business’.During this week, a large number of events would be organized throughout the country focusing on this theme. The week would start with the inauguration of national event by the Prime Minister at Vigyan Bhawan,New Delhi on 14th December, 2010. This will be followed by a Panel Discussion on the theme by renowned corporate leaders at Vigyan Bhawan itself.

The various organizing partners of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs would be hosting programmes on the above theme in Tier-II and Tier-III cities also throughout the country. It is expected that the number of such programmes during the week would be over 400. Programmes to be organized by partner organizations during the week are as under:-ASSOCHAM: 200; CII: 25; FICCI     :  4; PHD Chambers:  8; ICAI:  90; ICWAI    :  60; ICSI:  35. The major organizing partners of the Ministry are: CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, PHD Chamber, Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry, All India Association of Industries, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India and Institute of Company Secretaries of India. During the ICW 2010, Ministry is arranging for simultaneous release of nation-wide Investors’ Education Website in Hindi and eleven Regional languages by the Prime Minister and release of book, ‘India Unlimited – A Corporate Journey’, in partnership with NFCG and Penguin Books Indian Pvt. Ltd.
