ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE FOR FINANCE

(SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY)

(a) & (b) Drugs were seized in 8 cases from Gujarat Ports in 2021 and 2022 by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Narcotics Control Bureau and Indian Coast Guard (along with Gujrat State Police). Since, they are contraband precise value cannot be stated.

(c) & (d) Details enclosed as per Annexures A to F.

(e) & (f) Customs field formations, DRI and other Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (DLEAs) keep constant vigil at ports, waterways and the coastline, make seizures whenever smuggling of drugs is noticed and take action in accordance with law.

The cargo imported through ports is subjected to risk-based targeting by National Customs Targeting Centre-Cargo for detection of drugs smuggling through concealment.

The four-tier structured Narcotics Coordination (NCORD) platform established under Ministry of Home Affairs facilitates effective inter-agency coordination, up to district level.

Coordination and sharing of intelligence between various DLEAs through various platforms like Lead Intelligence Agency, Subsidiary Multi Agency Centre, Regional Economic Intelligence Council etc. is done.

Multi-agency Maritime Security Group including various Central agencies, has been created in November 2021 to address the challenges of drug trafficking.
