Subject- (Request for withdrawal of Increase in Property Tax & Trade License in Delhi)

Dear Shri Nadda ji,

We wish to appreciate the recent announcement made by Shri Vijay Rupani , Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat to waive-off property tax as well as fixed charge in electricity bills of hotels, resorts, restaurants and water parks affected by Corona pandemic for one year i.e, from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 in the State. It is a sensitive decision of Shri Rupani which has been acclaimed by traders of not only of Gujrat but by the traders across the Country. We compliment your leadership which is a source of inspiration for BJP ruled States to take trader friendly decisions.

It is a landmark announcement of Shri Rupani to share the plight of Covid affected businesses of Gujrat and much in line with fundamental principles of BJP for providing every opportunity to traders for providing ease of doing business. We are also of the considered opinion that the benefit given by Shri Rupani in Gujarat must be passed on to all kind of traders in Gujarat.

Therefore, it is requested that your good self may advise Chief Ministers of all BJP ruled States to make similar announcements in their respective States. The Gujarat announcement should be followed by all States to provide relief to traders of their respective States.

Meanwhile, we would like to draw your kind and immediate attention towards recent hike in property tax and Trade & Storage Licence by three MCDs run by BJP in Delhi which has increased miseries of the traders in the current pandemic situation when traders are struggling for survival of their businesses. This extra financial financial load in the traders will wreck the back bone of Delhi trade.

In this context, we request that the payment of both Property Tax and Trade Licence may be deferred till 31st October, 2021. It is also requested that keeping in view of the pandemic situation for last 18 months, the steep hike in Property Tax and Trade Licence is irrational and unjustified and therefore such hike may be withdrawn and Trade Associations should be consulted before taking any decision to hike the charges.

We are quite sure that you will be kind in advising the MCDs of Delhi to take an appropriate decision in the larger interest of 15 lakh traders of Delhi who are the nerve centre of Delhi’s economy.

Thank you. With kind regards
Truly yours

Praveen Khandelwal
