Income Tax Inspector jailed for Possession of Disproportionate Assets

Three Years Rigorous Imprisonment to Then Inspector of Income Tax for Possession of Disproportionate Assets

The Special Judge for CBI Cases at Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) has convicted Shri Brijendra Nath Bala @ B.N. Bala, then Inspector, Income Tax, Ayakar Bhawan, Napier Town, Jabalpur and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.1,61,540/- U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. 

CBI had filed a charge sheet in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Jabalpur on 29.08.2009 U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of PC Act 1988 alleging therein that Shri B.N. Bala, Inspector, Income Tax between the period 01.01.2003 to 31.08.2008 had amassed assets to the tune of Rs. 9,76,291/- (approx) in his name and in the names of his family members, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The said accused had also been convicted by the CBI Court, Jabalpur on 20.12.2014 in a bribery case and sentenced to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.50,000/-
