The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Office Superintendent of Income Tax and Tax Consultant for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant.

            A case was registered U/s 120-B of IPC and Section 7, 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Satyanarayan Vanam, Office Superintendent of Income Tax, 21(2); Pratyaksha Kar Bhavan, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai and Mehboob Shaikh, Tax Consultant for demanding bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the Complainant for clearing his Income Tax Returns without any scrutiny. The accused agreed to accept part payment of the bribe amount of Rs.20,000/-. CBI laid a trap and the accused persons were caught red handed while demanding & accepting the part payment of bribe amount of Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant.
