A new Audit Advisory Board (AAB) has been constituted under Comptroller & Auditor General of India, Shri Vinod Rai, who is the ex-officio Chairman of the Board. The main function of the Board will be to advise the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in matters relating to audit and suggest improvements in the performance and focus of audit within the framework of the constitution and statutory mandate of the CAG. The members will function in an honorary capacity for a period of two years.

The members of the board are: Ms. Shailaja Chandra, former Chief Secretary, Delhi, Shri T. Sethumadhavan, Public Finance Consultant, Shri Pratap Bhanu Mehta, President, Centre for Policy Research, Dr. A.K. Shiva Kumar, Adviser, UNICEF, Ms. Rohini Nilekani, Chairperson, Arghyam, Ms. Kalpana Morparia, Chief Executive Officer, JP Morgan India Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Sunita Narain, Director General, Centre for Science and Environment, Shri K.V. Kamath, Chairman, ICICI Bank and Ms. Shabana Azmi, Social Activist. Five Deputy CAGs will be the ex-officio members of the board. The first meeting of the AAB is scheduled on 17th August, 2011 in Delhi.
