The department has purchased or acquired many such real estate infrastructure in cities like Kanpur and Allahabad, Panchkula (Haryana), Bangalore, Allapuzha (Kerala), Ahmedabad and Gaya recently and is set to acquire more such land and creation of new infrastructure in the current fiscal. It is also in the process of creating new Aaykar Sampark Kendras (ASKs) — a single window office for taxpayers while dealing with I-T department — in various cities at the cost of crores of rupees.

The I-T department office at the new civic centre in Delhi will have an area of about 52,000 square metres in the E-Block, along with separate flanks for service areas and a dedicated car parking for 1,110 vehicles. The department has also been buoyed by the success of direct taxes (income tax) collection which was about Rs 4.50 lakh crore in the financial year 2010-11. Despite the department paying Rs 72,000 crore in refunds, the robust direct tax collection is the highest in any financial year.

WHO WOULD BE SELECTED AT RANDOM FROM THE SHORTLISTED ASSESSEES–INDEED IT’S THE TAXPAYER TO WHOM THE CENTRAL GOVT SHOULD PAY SALUTE–NOT WHOLLY TO THE DEPARTMENT-WHO’S PAYING BY THE GOVT(FROM THE REVENUE OF THE TAX PAYERS’)FOR THEIR SOLE DUTY.

DEAR FINANCE MINISTER, THINK OVER IT SERIOUSLY-DON’T PAMPER THE DEPARTMENT’S EMPLOYEES-OTHERWISE THE HONEST TAXPAYERS’ WOULD BETRAY YOU.
