The Indian Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has relaxed the norms for students aspiring to become chartered accountants. Until now an aspirant had to clear common proficiency test for chartered accountancy (CPT) after Std XII or graduation. Now there is an option of becoming a CA without clearing CPT. The existing option will continue to be available.

Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi agrees to its value and suggests that actions inspired by tolerance, nonviolence and love could lay stronger foundations of democracy, and a change of heart can possibly be a better device to change the spirit of democracy, if required and desired. Violence is never a weapon of strong and brave people; it can only represent our moral and intellectual bankruptcy, Mahatma opines. The spirit of democracy has to come from within.

ICAI to soon conclude disciplinary proceedings against auditors in Satyam case

Accounting regulator ICAI today said it will soon conclude the disciplinary proceedings against S Gopalakrishnan and Srinivas Talluri , the two auditors embroiled in the multi-crore Satyam fraud . The Disciplinary Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) would be holding the hearing(s) in the said matter(s) at regular intervals and would try to conclude these cases by adopting the fast track mode, ICAI President G Ramaswamy said in a statement.
