There is no specific source to find out whether service tax has been deposited by the service provider or not. In case service tax is not deposited by the service provider after collection from the service receiver then he is liable to pay penalty.
The service receiver can claim Cenvat credit charged in invoice if he has paid the same to the service provider irrespective whether service provider has deposited or not to the credit of Central Government.

The receipt issued does NOT give any service tax registration number.
