Preksha ChorariaEverybody applauding the Demonetization scheme of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes introduced by our honourable PM Mr.Narendra Modi but is it really worth it? I would request Modiji to relieve me from following doubts.

  1. Why such abrasive decision before UP elections?
  2. As per Mr.Arvind Kejriwal bank deposits increased during last 3-4 months. Were BJP members were well informed about the scheme before hand?
  3. Who is responsible for the deaths caused by the Demonetisation scheme?
  4. Does this scheme guarantee “No corruption” in future?
  5. Why do small farmers and traders (some of them even having no bank account) have to stand in long queue to exchange or deposit meagre savings of Rs.1.5 to 2 lakhs?
  6. Is your scheme targeting black money or small savings?
  7. By bringing the genuine savings in circulation do you want to cover up your false promise of bringing over seas black money?
  8. Why is common man not able to meet his basic necessities due to lack of valid currencies ?
  9. Even after the “liberalisation privatisation and globalisation” reforms why common man has to suffer all the restrictions and barriers imposed by government?
  10. What do you have to say about the black money hoarder’s “discounting” practice which is going on in the entire nation?

Modiji do share with me your “mann ki baat” on above issues!!!!!

    Thanks all for your comments.
I have written this article as a common man and not as a CA. I have asked these question which every person have who is out there standing in lines for exchanging or depositing their own money. We as CA can very well assess the long term benefits but what about the hardships of farmers, small traders, labourers???? I have no allegations but these questions are posed by a common man.

  2. Preksha says:

    Thanks all for your comments!!
I have written this article not as a CA but as a common man. I have experienced the pain of people who are standing in lines without any fault. The are in pain.
My article is not in form of allegation but i want these answers from Mr.Narendrabhai Modi. These are issues being faced by common man…if it hurts your alls feeling then I regret it. Have you ever thought of the farmers who dont have enough money to buy the seeds? (Although government has now brought some remedy!) Have you thought about the families whos kin has died standing in queque? This was not the aim of demonetisation scheme!!

Everybody/ie. all are fools except this little one!!! that too a CA. (this type of ca is cancer to the nation)
    Rowans correctly says:
“Black money is like a cancer. Cancer is treated with Chemotheraphy and Radiation. These treatments also kill some healthy tissue also. Sometimes the treatment is not effective enough and needs to be given again. Because some healthy cells suffer, it does not mean you don’t treat the cancer.”

    CA Preksha Choraria,

Sorry, you are not supposed to ask any questions. You lost that right, back in 2014. You can redeem it in 2019, if you want.

  11. NOBLE MBA says:

heloo CA ………. who are you to answer to these questions? u think u r the people who is the final answer to all questions. many wer seen criticising a person… who is also a CA. is this ur ethics? I know CA n what amount u guys earn as black n white. Dont play tricks. Siting in ur AC rooms and looking out as Chidambaram who was born with golden spoon sort of answer is wht you all gave. some one saying famers who recived huge amount as black or whote money… he will be forced to sell the land at that price by ur big big companies… dont try to project farmers who make food for u AC blue collor sahibs as black money holders.U all know the fact that common people who sweat n earn are the most affected, Some one was saying collateral damagae as people are dying due to heart aches…IF IT WAS ONE OF YOU WOULD YOU SAY THIS???? U all have debit cards credit cards…. R u aware of the fact that Nepal PM has asked Ur Modiji to help the citizens of Nepal to change the Indian money with them as they dont deposit Indian money in any accounts… but it is their hard earned money… come to kerala North indian labourer work force work here and sends a portion of the money to home.. the rest they keep it with them as savings instead of putting in bank… there is amount of rs.25000/- to rs.2 or 3,00,000/- with them… so u say these guys are having black money n tax evaders? they keep money in home since they dont hav accounts… u want to steal from their hard earned money as Tax ???

Many wer saying banks NPA are cleared, business entities will get fresh l;oans..from wer these hard earned money is coming from common man.. n banks are givng to Malya n other corporate defaulters hoping they will b conerted in to PA… DO U THINK THIS IS JUSTICE… IN MONETARY TERM S IT IS. BUT FOR COMMON MAN…??? Why this move didnt happen whn Raghuram Rajan was the Governer of RBI? Why this was done only when Urjit Patel took charge of the office? U ALL ARE MODI CHAMCHAS… WITHOUT SLIGHTEST OF THE LOVE FOR COMMON MAN WHO COME TO UFOR FILING TAX….

  12. Lalit Bohara says:

    Dear Vembu,

You have intelligent questions Let me try to address it one by one.
    1. Since past we have seen many loan turn into bad and NPA due to slow down in last 7 to 8 years. Only fewer companies outpaced GDP while others were turned out liability and NPA. Bank have considerable amount has already written off now demonetization is boon for both bank and corporates in trouble. Govt. Measure on transparent tax system and demonetization will benefits companies to grow as fresh cash available which was unusable by these companies due to restrictions. Consumption will slowly improve many people opt for banking channel so it would be easier for corporate to get easy and clean money from business. Their balance sheet will improve and NPA will turn into PA over the period of time. Temporary effect would be on FMCG as these were also driven by cash also but they also settle like other countries doing clean transactions. Unorganized sector will turn into organized with slow to moderate growth.
    2. Senior citizen off course will be benefitted even if interest rate will come down which will be compensated by improved purchasing power in currency and Rupees will strengthen. Although their earing will be less but their purchasing power would be higher and they will definitely gets more from current money.
    3. Bank have cleaned most of their NPA and Companies have potential to grow in upcoming years as they can scale up due to demonetization. Bank now have experience before creating new loans like and those NPA will slowly turn in PA will strengthen Bank Balance Sheet. Bank are now shifting focus on corporate loan to consumer loans.
    4. Tax collected on Black money or cash foregone will goes to mega Infra projects. Yes infra is in bad shape and this sector will now have chance to take it up. It is easy allegation that Govt. is helping these corporates but if they are better paid off then only they can make matching world class infra otherwise no one take initiative to make it. People off course will be benefitted from improved infrastructure will help them to speed up their life which was stuck.
This is well planned as Nobody can do this effective like they did managing 65 crore public and 16 lakh crore cash. Yes there is hardship but after 50 days you will find different and confident india who has largely cleaned their economy from Fake currency and many people were added in Tax system.

  13. k c agarwal says:

some bodies are saying that on 2000 notes , the speech of modi ji can be heard, You can hear on
4G mobile,by loading the shoftware MODI KEE NOTE, in APP, after loading the shoftware,, put the on mobile, on 2ooo notes, then you will see picture of modi jee, and their lecture

  14. CA SATISH NEMANI says:

The biggest achievement of demonetization is the big jolt of terrorists activities in the state of Jammu and Kashmir where the normalcy in law and order since 09-11-2016 is seen.

Big jolt to fake currency allegedly being circulated by neighboring countries

  15. Lalit Bohara says:

    1. Why such abrasive decision before UP elections?
Ans:- Election was not his target. Before 30th Sep he given option to come in mainstream and opt for clean your sins. After 30th Sep it was expected Since he dont want to ruin Deepawali celebrated by crores of Hindu’s so came after week.
    2. As per Mr.Arvind Kejriwal bank deposits increased during last 3-4 months.
Ans:- AK and many anti Govt. agnecies have many tools to verify such deposits and it is also clarified that it is 1 time payment made for 7th pay.
    3. Were BJP members were well informed about the scheme before hand?
Ans: It is easy to assume that before demonetisation BJP and ally were informed which is not true otherwise Shiv Sena would not be opposing but if you closely see Govt. Came with many other measures if money comes in Banking channel and Public domain and traceble then they will be trapped themself as people will easily point finger like you are doing.

4.Who is responsible for the deaths caused by the Demonetisation scheme?
Ans:- Death is unfortunate but never intended even we dont know for which reason people die. If this illicit funding is stopped then many lives would have saved like soldiers will not die from terriost funding.
5.Does this scheme guarantee “No corruption” in future?
Ans:- Stupid Question (No offense pls). Expect your wisdome in this

    6. Why do small farmers and traders (some of them even having no bank account) have to stand in long queue to exchange or deposit meagre savings of Rs.1.5 to 2 lakhs?
Is your scheme targeting black money or small savings?
Ans: Not at all People can deposit entire money even higher amount ( keep ready with source) and if you dont have account then exchange it. See the Large account holder or those who are stashing cash beneath their bed they are now chocked.
    7. By bringing the genuine savings in circulation do you want to cover up your false promise of bringing over seas black money?
Ans: it is not easy to pull money from other country as they also suffer if entire amount is withdrawn so Barrier or resistance from Swiss and other countries also . Govt will pull out money from sytematic way and their bill on Black money will stop for generation of overseas Balck money.

    8. Why is common man not able to meet his basic necessities due to lack of valid currencies ?
Ans: it is emotional question but due so much fake currency he is not getting full and his Purchaing power is reduced due to fake currrency but defenately in future his money will fetch more his needs and he can aslo save from new money.
    9. Even after the “liberalisation privatisation and globalisation” reforms why common man has to suffer all the restrictions and barriers imposed by government?
Ans:- This is nothing to do with restriction and barriers but it is cleaning process by making sure genuine currency made available to people and currency carrying cost is reduced to large extent by adding to people to banking channel.

10 What do you have to say about the black money hoarder’s “discounting” practice which is going on in the entire nation?
Ans: -Govt. Is closely monetoring and taking measure like many jewellers doing illegal practice and they were raided.

Modiji do share with me your “mann ki baat” on above issues!!!!!
Before hearing from Modi on this Please understand it was never attempted such large scale demonetisation. Earlier was done 1978 but that time condition was not much worse then today. We are loosing our purchasing Power and our Rupee is falling against other currencies unless we take counter measure we cannot save our countries from possible threat ( Terrorism and parallel Black economy which is eating our purchasing power and Money is disproportionately accumulated by fewer)

    Thanks
    With Regards
    Lalit Bohara

  16. vembu says:

The steps taken by the govt. to write off NPAs of big corporates, has risked the common mans fixed deposits with banks and the banks net-worth – i e. share holders equity value is greatly eroded..

The claim by the govt., that so many lakhs or crores of deposit has been collected by the banks is not an achievement – the money printing by the govt is supposed to come to the banks kitty through this cash demonetization.

The repercussion of cash demonetization is that unless the deposit mobilized by the banks are not returned to the depositors, to support the unorganized economy, the deposit interest rate will substantially come down and the interest income of retired and seniors citizen who mainly depend on interest income will be at risk

The flooded money in the bank will add more pressure on the banks to advance further loans to big corporates, who with out experience are blatant defaulters and ultimately turn in to to NPAS. Once again the depositors money is at risk.

Thirdly, the dividend what the govt., is expected to get from RBI to the extent of currency not deposited through the banking channel will come to govt., kitty, who in turn again going to carry out mega infrastructure projects through big corporates – ultimately again the big corporates are going to get benefitted and not the common man who stands in the long ques to deposit the money.

I feel that the entire cash demonetization process badly planned and executed is to support the big corporates and not the common man.

  17. vembu says:

Everybody should understand money is money – but it takes the prefix black or white depending upon the person who is holding the money. Unless the corrupt people and people taking bribes are identified punished. The modi govt., still not installed a system to ensure corruption and bribe free administration in all departments of state and central government, local bodies, educational institutions. Ordinary common man still paying bribes to obtain birth certificate to death certificate, for admission in school to burial ground. A person has to approach, different govt, department, institutions for their day to day business and personal matters. Unless and until the business man & common man’s face to face interaction with govt., and other departments for approvals etc, are done away with – bribes and corruption cannot be removed from our society. How, this cash demonetization is going to eradicate this bad elements from the administration system. Unless and until all the govt., assure the common man and ensures that corruption is ruled out, black money cannot be removed from the society. This element will resurface with great aggression again. The pinch of it is going to felt only by the common man and not by our politicians.

  18. NIRAV MEHTA says:

ur ouestions r giving me impression that u r bookwarm. looks like that u r not aware of the measures of tackling practical situations. good answer by mithilesh.

  19. Sandeep S Malhotra says:

Agree with you Ms Preksha. Currenecy were issued to leaders in advance. We can file RTI in RBI for details of currency issued to various banks & Chests. Every thing will be out. All rules are made only for common man, small savings are targeted by BJP. What about Black money parked in swiss banks.

  20. Badrinath says:

Demonitization means end to correct regime. This is most incorrect statement and it should be well understood. What Mr.Kejriwal says or X or Y, it is upto them make statement. Let us wait and watch, the course of action present govt. takes after Dec’30. It’s too early to jump the gun!.

  21. Nilesh Kanabar says:

As a professional Chartered Accountant if you can’t understand why demonetization has come then either you are not ready to accept the change you are also part of the people who had undisclosed income and are getting help from Chartered Accountant to find way of hiding it.

  22. Hitesh Shah says:

I fully agree with my few colleagues who have responded against her10 questions mainly by Mithilesh and Sridhar. I want to add more if modi has taken wrong decision why opponents are worried. Instead they should be happy that because of his wrong decision they will be benefitted !!!!. In UP the elections are won by notes and money power as per the history.
Regarding inconvenience to small farmers i want to add that some of them have sold their lands at huge price and taken black or on money which is not reflected in IT return or not taxed. What about them. Don’t watch only media reporting negativity also watch good channels like Zee news India TV DD for truth.
Regarding Kejriwalji everybody knows he has won elections because of his intention to curb black money but he bacame fond of it after getting into power. IF he does not understand how this demonetisation will remove black money he should take help of experts because he never thinks any thing except Modiji. He has Modi Phobia. He is true follower of Modiji because he cannot think of a minute without naming Modiji.
Further the person who doubts Indian Army and declares a Suicider as “saheed” without knowing the truths for political benefit has no right to question Indian Army. Because a Real Armyman/ personwill never commit suicide. He has no value for the Army who fights at Border for our security and never taken pain to meet any family of such Real “Heros” of our country.

  23. Sanjeev Chaturvedi says:

Questions mentioned by Preksha are not her own but have been borrowed from Arvind Kejriwal. All these questions have been very well answered by Mithilesh Brahmbhatt . My compliments to Mithilesh for answering the questions with such clarity in detail.

  24. Krish says:

    1. Why such abrasive decision before UP elections? – Every 6 months there are state elections…if this decision had taken 8 months before…there might be Bihar/delhi elections…so this question is non-sense.
    2. As per Mr.Arvind Kejriwal bank deposits increased during last 3-4 months. Were BJP members were well informed about the scheme before hand? – Mr kejriwal himself made andolan to ban Rs. 500 & 1000 note…now why he is opposing the modi which is also non-sense. Being CA you might be aware more or less BJP members are also corrupt & have business relationship with other political party. So considering confidentiality this possibility is also nullify.
    3. Who is responsible for the deaths caused by the Demonetisation scheme? More or less this is a media trail & stories created by media. Only the respective branch manager & local politics are responsible for such incidence. Instead of opposing Modi, they can help to bank and common people. Also tell me who is responsible to death cause in terrorist activity.
    4. Does this scheme guarantee “No corruption” in future? – off-course not. But surely one step towards to make down corruption.
    5. Why do small farmers and traders (some of them even having no bank account) have to stand in long queue to exchange or deposit meagre savings of Rs.1.5 to 2 lakhs?..When yu become sick or ill or injure & you are getting injuction or operated by doctor..some time you get pain but afterwords you become very happy & get well. This is a kind of situation.
    6. Is your scheme targeting black money or small savings? Close your eyes…stop watching TV/social Media…Ask you soul..you will get the answer.
    7. By bringing the genuine savings in circulation do you want to cover up your false promise of bringing over seas black money? Childish question.
    8. Why is common man not able to meet his basic necessities due to lack of valid currencies? 99% common man is happy ..modiji already told you have to face problem for 50 days only. Have fast for some days..god will bless you.
    9. Even after the “liberalisation privatisation and globalisation” reforms why common man has to suffer all the restrictions and barriers imposed by government?.Its like traffic rules to befollow by every one. If one person is breking rules..whole traffic gets jam..Its not only modi’s job to build nation…every single person has to contribute towards nation. Instead of questioning modi..suggest on (not expecting to support fro person like you) what can be done herefurther.
    10. What do you have to say about the black money hoarder’s “discounting” practice which is going on in the entire nation? ..seems definitely you are knowing such person. Be a bold and brave like modiji and inform IT department about the same. You do your job. Rest will take care by modiji.

  25. Rahul says:

Very well written. Nobody supports the concept of black money but the manner in which this has been imposed..has created severe chaos (unforgettable pain in some cases) to the general public.

    adding to above:
    1) why do poor/common man need to provide their id proof, fill up forms to get their old currency exchanged? Do you know millions of people in this country are illiterate? To add to their misery, in remote areas, xerox guys are charging extra money only to give the copies of money exchange forms. There are thousands of villages in India which have 1 or 2 photocopy centers, people need to walk kilometers only to get photocopy of their ids. This is utterly ridiculous. These ids will ultimately either be misused by banks/trashed. Many so called ‘nationalists’ argue that this is curb misuse of exchange of old currency by bad guys. Do you think these poor people are black money hoarders? Why did not government plan any measure to distinguish these poor from real black money hoarders? Do you also know that millions in this country still do not have any id proof but they are still genuine people, how should they manage this crisis?
    2) you are requesting the people to bear this pain only for 50 days; did you imagine how pathetic will be a poor and middle class person’s state of mind when he/she is not able to timely fulfil the urgent daily requirements of his/her family like food, transportation, medical etc. They are not expecting big money in exchange to do any significant transaction but how does one manage these daily needs? Is this not a situation of state imposed emotional terrorism?
    3) after queuing up for hours, people are getting notes of Rs.2000 in exchange which is of no use in market, one cannot buy milk/grocery/or anything for her/his family. Why didn’t you print enough Rs.100/50/20/10 rupee currency in advance to give these smaller denominations in return to the citizens. Were elections in five major states in India so important that this was ignored?
    4) people living in cities and who have bank accounts are managing to withdraw Rs.100 notes from ATMs and running their life; but how about the poor/people living in remote areas with no bank accounts? There are millions of small villages in India for which the nearest bank/ATM would be at least 5-10 kilometers away. Why did government not consider these people before ‘imposing’ this situation. You have made every common man at par with cheaters; cheaters are/will somehow manage the crisis but common man’s sufferings are at peak. What do you think sir?
    5) not even a single high profile person has suffered queuing before banks or any other inconvenience, all have seen in news the lavish marriages during this most troubled time of the nation; why did neither bank nor IT dept question them? We have seen a IT dept questioning deposit of Rs.4.5 lacs by a business in Silliguri.

  26. Kumar Mohan Kar says:

Yes inconvenience is there for the common mass. But it’s the most wanted possible step to curb black money usage. If you want to achieve the target in it’s fullest sense , then better not to share the plan in a common plat form. Definitely the actions and results should be good causes. Every one has to support and general public are also supporting with difficulties. India is a vast country , whatever you have to implement even with complete preparation still some practical inconvenience comes during the implementation time. In 21st century and at this point of time its better to be smart enough by all of us including the farmer and the individual at the bottom of the ladder, everyone should have a bank account , they should know the benefit of it, know the usage of ATM and basic banking operation, small time business individuals also should know a bit about how to transact online, mobile banking, etc. This is a need of hour if we want a real developed India. Easy to ask question but difficult to draw a full proof plan where 200% success can be assured. A lot of intelligent brains and time must have worked behind these like mega action, its not only Mr.Modi takes a decision on a very fine day. We are accountants , at least we know the value of accounting of money, so at this point of time better we should advise something in easing the situation if at all we can, otherwise better not to question too much when we know the step has been taken for good cause for the entire nation.

  27. Singh Raj Jairath says:

Replies to the questions have been given aplenty. But I want to I want to ask a question for my use. One of my close CA friend of average practice is approaching me and others of my colleagues to accommodate Rs.2.5 lakhs in my Saving Bank account. What should I/we do?

  28. Mithilesh Brahmbhatt says:

I am trying to answer your questions in my personal capacity.

    1. Why such abrasive decision before UP elections?
Ans: No one should wait for any MUHURAT for a good thing to start. And In such a vast country, Elections are routine exercises going on every now & then.

    2. As per Mr.Arvind Kejriwal bank deposits increased during last 3-4 months. Were BJP members were well informed about the scheme before hand?
Ans: No one will go and create a FD of black money. They have other alternatives to still keep it black only. And, the surge in Bank FDs were due to 7th pay.

    3. Who is responsible for the deaths caused by the Demonetisation scheme?
Ans: Any damn good decision & its implementation will lead to some kind of pain to some people. I am not defending it cos death is a bitter thing. But Modi’s intention was surely not to create chaos or put some people to suffer & die.

    4. Does this scheme guarantee “No corruption” in future?
Ans: If you go to doctor for medicines in case u have fever, does the doctor guarantee that you wont suffer fever ever again in your life! Which country is free from corruption! We can strive to minimise it.. That’s it!

    5. Why do small farmers and traders (some of them even having no bank account) have to stand in long queue to exchange or deposit meagre savings of Rs.1.5 to 2 lakhs?
Ans: Modi is doing all these for the people of the nation so large. He tried to push people to open bank account via JAN DHAN YOJNA. Please suggest some better way if u can.

    6. Is your scheme targeting black money or small savings?
Ans: Being a CA, If you are still not able to understand the target, I feel pity.

    7. By bringing the genuine savings in circulation do you want to cover up your false promise of bringing over seas black money?
Ans: Since Independence, Which Govt has tried such a strong move even by risking his own political career!!! Wait and watch for other revolutionary moves cos to trap a rat, you dont go and inform it in advance.

    8. Why is common man not able to meet his basic necessities due to lack of valid currencies ?
Ans: There are two things. One, Earlier Govt has not tried to put any scheme like JAN DHAN YOJNA. Secondly, even if Modi has implemented such scheme, People didn’t opt. Now, Tell me.. Whose fault is there!

    9. Even after the “liberalisation privatisation and globalisation” reforms why common man has to suffer all the restrictions and barriers imposed by government?
Ans: People find loopeholes in each and every provision of law and try to penetrate the system. So Govt needs to have check point via some more strict provision. That is not restrictions or barriers. Modi has always tried to minimise the restrictions & barriers. Please google it out.

    10. What do you have to say about the black money hoarder’s “discounting” practice which is going on in the entire nation?
Ans: Modi is not that foolish to allow people to use any leakage. He surely wont spare them.

PS: Please take it sportingly. I dont intend to hurt.

    Regards,
An Indian by Heart – who is standing for nation, not for Modi cos failure of Demonitisation will be failure of nation.

  29. v k jain, CA says:

may be this is in interest of banks to increase liquidity and to write off huge NPA which were resulted from corporate loans of tycoons

  30. NAGESWARADUTT says:

Silly questions and did not understand what is black money. This is one of the major steps taken by government and we should encourage this even though small inconvenience is to be endured and should not be having magnifying attitude. The cause of death is not probably because of demonitization and unless and until the cause death is known, it cannot be attributed to Modi’s policy which is taken in the interest of our country. The deaths cannot be compared to URI deaths and if it is, let Delhi government announce rewards and awards.

  31. Arun Jain says:

    Dear Preksha

The intention / purpose / cause is very nice, by Prime Minister, We do agree for the high inconveniences being faced by common man

  32. Rowans says:

Black money is like a cancer. Cancer is treated with Chemotheraphy and Radiation. These treatments also kill some healthy tissue also. Sometimes the treatment is not effective enough and needs to be given again. Because some healthy cells suffer, it does not mean you don’t treat the cancer.

Chartered Accountants are a part of nation building. They are an enlightened lot. CAs should lend their hand in this time of need in this great task of cleansing.

If there is any slacking at this point of time, the looting of the nation will continue with redoubled vigour.

Demonetisation of two denominations is perhaps only a first step in a grand plan to suppress currency hoarding.

  33. CA Gajendra Bhardwaj says:

    CA Preksha Choraria,

you better join Politics under AAP.
These are mere political allegations rather then question, that too from a person with political motive. I don’t see any professionalism in these baseless allegations.

  34. Sridhar says:

The writer being a professional would not have raised these quetions on her own , but to satisfy the mades.
    I would like to reply
