    Can Income Tax Department adjust dues as per their records from refund for later years irrespective of passage of several years? When the present Government has limited enquiry to within four years how can IT department expect assessees to verify alleged tax dues shown in their records for as long back as 14 years when refund becomes due

    I received a message from IT that an amount is due Rs 2458 for a.y.2002,. But for which I was not allowed HRA relief for f.y.2001-02,by the I T deptt, As due to my transfer from Visakhapatnam to Nellore ,by my employer LIC of India, and myself and my family stayed at two above mentioned places and thus for which I claimed HRA relief.Instead of allowing relief now IT department asking me to pay income tax of Rs 2458/- afty span of 19 years, which is totally please advise

    I am a bank employee and want to know as per govt. Instruct which allowance will form part of income in the financial year 2005_06. Viz basic pay. Dearness allowance HRA. CCA. Other allowance. Provision by bank for PF
    Pension. Gratuity. Rebursement of conveyance charges. Newspaper. Etc. Kindly provide copy of instructions also.

    E.Cess & SHEC rate for the above period where required is not mentioned. So how the correct tax figure will be calculated.

    Could you kindly let me have the Income tax slab structure applicable to very senior citizens
    ( aged 80 years and above) for the assessment years 2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10

    A small correction
    For finanacial year 2004-05 and 2003-02 surcharge is 10% if income is greater than 1.5 lakh instead of 8.5 lakh
