How to use the Calculator
1) Ensure that you have MS Office 2010 or later to get this CG calculator working. (Macros should be enabled)
2) It is a simple calculator, by seeing it anyone can fairly understand it.
3) Insert the scrip name date of purchase and date of sale and respective amounts, it will automatically calculate the stock and STCG/LTCG and also the period of holding. Ensure that you put Purchase and Sale date in one line or else the formula wont for work for stock and it would show mismatch.
4) After inserting all the details click on Quickbar button at the top and there will  be options to insert rows, column, calculate STCG and LTCG and intra day etc. Once you click the report will be generated and automatically it will set the print area accordingly so that you can just take print out or take a pdf file and email it to the client.
5) The sheet is only for educational purpose and hence it is totally unlocked. You can also insert or edit formulas the way you like.

Till you run macro, you can edit the excel sheet. Once macro (through Quick bar) is run, then for any further changes, the message comes to unprotect the sheet and asks for a password. Pl share the password

Formula given in column N appears to be wrong. It states: =IF((C6-I6)0,C6-I6,”-“) where C6 is purchase qty, I6 is sale qty. By this formula, when purchase qty is higher /lower than sale qty, then that difference in qty appears, if both purchase and sale qty are same, then _ sign appears

Good attempt but sheet will not work when transactions are voluminous. And there is no facility of stock register in case of multiple scrip names. Lot of improvement is required.

  11. Dinesh Khairatkar says:

Good for small investors to understand and thanks for leaving the scope for editing or adding the formulas the way it requires as the law will keep changing…

WHEN WE ARE PUTTING THE DATE OF SELL IT IS NOT TAKING GIVING ERROR MESSAGE THAT THE DATE OF SELL SHOULD EITHER EQUAL OR GREATER THAN THE DATE OF PURCHASE.
