    Sir,

I have purchased a flat in Belgaum. The builder has collected 4% towards VAT on full value of flat and 2.58% towards service tax. I have not received any proof of payment by builder to the Government. I had made the payment to the builder by cheque.

Kindly advise whether the amount paid is as required by law.
