A CA student who appears in one Group of CA IPCE Exams has to score Minimum 50% in Aggregate and 40 marks in each of the three paper. So in aggregate she has to score minimum 150 Marks out of total 300 marks to pass in examination. But recently we come across a case in which a CA student who appeared for May 2012 Examination whose result got declared on 07.08.2012 shown as pass despite scoring in aggregate less then 50% in one of the group She appeared. The student has scored only 133 out of 300 Marks but still shown as pass on CA Result portal http://www.caresults.nic.in . There seems to be some discrepancy in ICAI exam portal which ICAI needs to rectify to stop repeat of such occurrences in future. A snap shot of result is given below :-

When She has appeared for both the Groups, and she has scored more than 40% marks in both the groups and in first group she has scored more than required marks which can be adjusted as set off in another group short fall if student has scored more than 40% and less than 50% but over all in both the groups scored more than 50%, the student gets benefit of set off. Accordingly, by this Rule of Set off she should be declared passed if she has scored in one group more than 55% and she has scored less than 50% in another group but has scored more than 40%, in Toto both the groups if she has scored 50% and more. Off late ICAI which has been hailed as a most professional body in India has seen its standards coming down. They have also made the course commercial instead of concentrating on good qualities
