Three persons, including a former IAF staffer, who were arrested by the CBI for cheating a chartered accountant of over Rs 75 lakh, were on Wednesday remanded in judicial custody by a sessions court. While the court granted judicial custody till June 29, the CBI had sought an extension of their police custody.
The three—Prasanna Mehta alias S K Jain, Suryakant Helkar alias Captain and courier agent Shashank Abu—were arrested on June 10. The police are now looking for the gangleader, Venkat Reddy alias Srinivas Naidu alias Kalu alias Anna alias Dr Rao. During investigation, it was revealed that the trio alongwith Reddy were involved in preparing fake demand drafts and cheating people.
