UOI vs. Vodafone International Holding (Supreme Court) (Review Petition) -Union of India filed a review petition in the Supreme Court seeking a review of its judgement in the case of Vodafone International Holdings B.V. vs. UOI in which it held that Vodafone was not liable to pay capital gains on the transfer of shares. HELD by the Supreme Court dismissing the review petition: We have carefully gone through the review petition filed by the Union of India on 17th February, 2012. We find no merit in the review petition. The review petition is, accordingly, dismissed.

Former Indian Premier League cricket boss Lalit Modi is back in the English courts, this time having been declared bankrupt. Modi, who is awaiting the judgment from a libel trial in the High Court of London with former New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns, has been declared bankrupt in a London court over unpaid bills of 65,000 pounds ($126,000) owed to a private security firm.

Goods up to an aggregate quantity of forty thousand metric tonnes of total imports of such goods in the remaining part of the financial year 2011-12. Explanation. – For removal of doubts, it is clarified that the quantity of goods already cleared under S. No. 491A of notification No. 21/2002-Customs dated the 1st March, 20102, up to the date of its supersession, shall be included in computing the aggregate quantity.
