DGFT withdraws suspension on Registration Certificates for export of cotton

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with Para 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-14, the Central Government hereby deletes Para 4 of Notification No. 106 (RE-2010)/2009-14 dated 12.03.2012 with immediate effect to allow further registration of contracts for export of cotton under Tariff Item HS code 5201 & 5203 [ Sl. Nos. 197 & 199 of ITC(HS) Classification of Export & Import Items].

Post Office Agent Commission on Savings Schemes

The payment of commission to agents of Public Provident Fund (PPF) Scheme and Senior Citizens Savings Scheme has been discontinued, with effect from 1st December, 2011. Commission under all other schemes (except MPKBY Agents) has been reduced from 1% to 0.5%. However, commission to Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) agents will continue at the existing rate of 4%.

CBDT constitutes advisory group for International Taxation

The Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT, has constituted an advisory group for International Taxation and Transfer Pricing. The 13 members group will be headed by Revenue Secretary. A Finance ministry release says, the others members of the group include Chairman of CBDT, Director General of Income-tax , Joint Secretary of Department of Revenue, and representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country.

DGFT revises ITC (HS) Code of 6 existing products

PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 109 (RE2010)/2009-14 ITC (HS) Code of 6 existing products have been revised as appearing in the column 3 of para 3 & 4 above. These new codes would also be eligible for benefits for grant of VKGUY and FPS, as the case may be, if these appear in the Shipping Bills.

Fake Income Tax Raid at Saharanpur

Recently there have been large number of news in daily newspapers on the above subject. Brief facts are that a gang of 6 persons led by so called Sh. V.D.Goyal, Investigation Officer of Income Tax Department raided the house of Dr. Mohan Pandey, Saharanpur(U.P.) on 18/04/2012. They claimed that they belong to the Office of the CIT, Lucknow and produced a fake letter issued by the Commissioner of Income Tax, Zone-2, Lucknow before the S.S.P., Saharanpur and got police force on the basis of fake letter as well as fake Identity Card.

Exim Bank’s Line of Credit to the Government of Republic of Burundi

Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) has concluded an Agreement dated May 24, 2011 with the Government of the Republic of Burundi, making available to the latter, a Line of Credit (LOC) of USD 80 million (USD Eighty million) for financing eligible goods, machinery, equipment and services including consultancy services from India for the purpose of installation of the Kabu Hydro Electric Project in Burundi. The goods, machinery, equipment and services including consultancy services from India for exports under this Agreement are those which are eligible for export under the Foreign Trade Policy of the Government of India and whose purchase may be agreed to be financed by the Exim Bank under this Agreement.

It was indicated that the final guidelines on the implementation of Basel III capital regulations would be issued by end – April 2012. It may be recalled that draft proposals on Basel III capital regulations were issued vide circular DBOD.No.BP.BC.71/ 21.06.201/ 2011-12 dated December 30, 2011.
