IDBI Bank Launches 24*7 Loan Monitoring System

Mumbai, July 11, 2012: In a new initiative, IDBI Bank would be launching a 24*7 loan monitoring system for its retail as well as corporate clients. Under this facility, a customer can directly inform a centralized system about submission of his/her loan application details to IDBI Bank via SMS, email or through the website. A dedicated SMS number, Email ID (loan@idbi.co.in) and utility in the website has been created for this purpose. These mechanisms would go live shortly.

SEBI allows MCX-SX to operate as full-fledged stock exchange

The Securities and Exchange Board of India SEBI has granted permission to Multi commodity exchange MCX-SX to operate as a full-fledged stock exchange, a development that ends nearly four-year-long wait of the bourse and will bring in more competition in markets.

Deductors to Ensure Correct Credit to Persons of Whose TDS is Deducted

All deductors other than Government deductors must file their quarterly TDS statement for the quarter ending 30th June 2012, on or before 15th July 2012 and Government deductors must file their statement on or before 30th July 2012. While submitting their statements, the deductors have to choose correct and relevant form, quote correct PAN against all entries and ensure that correct CIN/BIN is quoted in the TDS statement. Non-quoting of PAN or TAN in TDS statements or delay in filing of TDS statements may lead to levy of penalty.

It is also apparent that an ADP mouse does not depend on the presence of a Mouse Pad in order to function or to carry out its specific activity. The ADP mouse could also be used and would also function without being placed on a Mouse Pad.

RBI permits cancellation & rebooking of forward contract by residents involving Rupee as one of the currencies

However, forward contract(s), booked by residents to hedge capital account transactions for tenor greater than one year, if cancelled with one AD Category I bank can be rebooked with another AD Category I bank, subject to the following conditions:

Service Tax on remittance of foreign currency in India from overseas

CIRCULAR NO. 163/14/2012-ST, Concerns have been expressed in various forums regarding the leviability of service tax on the remittance of foreign currency in India from overseas. 2. The matter has been examined and it is clarified that there is no service tax per se on the amount of foreign currency remitted to India from overseas. In the negative list regime, ‘service’ has been defined in clause (44) of section 65B of the Finance Act 1994, as amended, which excludes transaction in money. As the amount of remittance comprises money, the activity does not comprise a ‘service’ and thus not subjected to service tax.

Indian Legal System – Problems may not end soon?

A good legal system represents good governance in the Country. We may say that India is a vibrant democracy and we may further proudly say that Indian society reflects ‘Unity in Diversity’. There are critics of democracy and they show caste politics, purchasing votes in elections, leaders looting billions of public money and criminals getting elected in the elections. Whatever may be the achievements of India and the criticism, the fact remains that India is a complex nation and issues are so complex.
