Government declines to disclose two letters written to PM by former Sebi member

The Government has declined to disclose two letters written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by former Sebi member K M Abraham, who had alleged in another communication, interference by some corporates and top Finance Ministry officials in the working of the market regulator.

PM to hold meet over high inflation today

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called a meeting on Saturday to discuss policy options with regard to slowing economic growth and high inflation. The meeting (with PM) is on the current economic situation. As a goodwill gesture govt allows duty-free import of vegetable, fruits from Dhaka

Ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Bangladesh, India, in a goodwill gesture, has allowed zero duty import of vegetables, spices and garments from the neighbouring country, with immediate effect vide Notification No. 60/2011-Customs Dated- 14th July, 2011. However, Bangladesh exporters would enjoy the duty concession only if they dispatch the goods through the land route from Balat-Kalaichar region in Meghalaya for sale in Border Haats.
